Learn more about Shirley below:

Where are you from, and where did you go to college?

I was born, raised and spent most of my life in Peoria, Illinois. When I got married I moved to central Michigan and I’m now located in East Lansing. I studied at Franciscan University of Steubenville where I double majored in Theology and Catechetics.

What drew you to StJFS? What made you want to join their team and work to further Catholic education?

Simply put, the mission drew me to StJFS. In my time in ministry, I’ve worked in parishes, parish schools and a diocesan chancery. I’ve seen firsthand the struggle it is for parish and school staff to juggle the responsibilities of ministry and administration. I’m honored to work for a company that is striving to alleviate some of this strain by providing top notch financial services to these communities.

What’s a big “win” you’ve been involved with that has had an impact on a parish, Diocese, or Catholic school?

I’ve spent many years in ministry for the Church. I’ve helped plan and execute countless retreats, trips, spiritual talks, conferences, youth events, liturgies and more. Any opportunity to create a space of encounter for others to come close to Jesus is a win in my book! If I had to pick one “win” that’s a favorite of mine it would be assisting couples to plan their wedding liturgies at my last parish.

What is it like being part of the StJFS team? How would you describe the culture and people you work with?

I love it here! Although we primarily work virtually, all of my new co-workers have welcomed me with enthusiasm. The staff at StJFS is impressive, yet very down to earth and fun. I already feel at home although I’ve only been with the company a short time. The culture is one of support and respect. All my co-workers are ready to lend a helping hand with a smile whenever it’s needed.

What are your goals for your time at StJFS?

My goal is to serve the mission of StJFS by providing excellent service to our clients and to continue to grow in my pursuit of knowledge to help meet their needs.

What do you do in your time away from the office?

My husband and I love to travel in our time away from work. We’ve been all over the country together, but we also enjoy staying close to home and exploring all the beauty that Michigan has to offer. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula is a must see! I also enjoy cooking, hosting dinner parties, sitting lakeside for sunsets, reading and going for walks with my dog Lucy.
